Armies & Kingdoms

Armies

Overview

  • Armies are groups of parties assembled for military operations.
  • They offer strength in numbers and better coordination than individual parties.

Creating an Army

  • The leader must spend Influence to form an army.
  • Parties from your own clan (companions/family) cost no Influence to call.
  • Other vassal parties require Influence based on their size and status.

Army Cohesion

  • Armies begin with 100 Cohesion.
  • Cohesion drops daily while the army is in the field.
  • Low cohesion may cause non-player parties to leave.
  • When cohesion reaches 0, the army disbands.
  • If you are the army leader, you can restore cohesion in increments of 10 using Influence.

Influence

Gaining Influence

  • Win battles (especially as army leader).
  • Win tournaments.
  • Donate prisoners or troops to allied faction settlements.
  • Convince nobles to join your faction.
  • Use relevant Charm perks and bartering with nobles.

Spending Influence

  • Form armies.
  • Increase army cohesion.
  • Propose or vote on kingdom policies and diplomacy decisions.
  • Influence also determines daily pay if you're acting as a mercenary.

Voting Tiers

  • When voting on policies/diplomacy:
    • 20 Influence = 1 vote
    • 40 Influence = 2 votes
    • 80 Influence = 3 votes

Kingdoms

Creating a Kingdom

To create your own kingdom, you must:

  • Own at least one town.
  • Reach Clan Tier 4.
  • Appoint a governor to your town.
  • Speak to the governor to access the \"Create Kingdom\" option.
  • You must be independent (not a vassal).

Mercenary Clans

  • Minor factions can be hired as mercenaries.
  • Press `N`, go to the Clans tab, and look for Minor Factions.
  • Speak to a faction leader to offer a contract (if they’re not already employed).

Renown

  • Renown is earned by:
    • Winning battles (especially against stronger opponents)
    • Winning tournaments
    • Completing quests
    • Destroying bandit hideouts
  • Renown is required to:
    • Increase your Clan Tier
    • Unlock more party and companion slots
    • Become a vassal or form a kingdom
