Quests & Companions

Quests Overview

  • Realm of Thrones includes both native and custom quests.
  • Quest outcomes can affect settlements, diplomacy, and kingdom relations.
  • Most quests are accessible through notables or lords.

Quest Mechanics

  • Outcomes are not always binary (success/failure); they can affect growth or trigger broader consequences.
  • Main storyline quests (like the Dragon Banner quest) do not appear in Sandbox mode.
  • Some quests may have time limits or require specific companions.

Assigning Companions to Quests

  • Many quests can be delegated to companions.
  • Success chances depend on:
    • The companion’s skills
    • Troop quality (for combat missions)
    • Time taken (depends on quest type)

Notes

  • Some quests accept multiple skills (e.g. One-Handed, Two-Handed, or Polearm).
  • Assigning elite troops increases cost but does not always improve success chance.

Finding Characters

  • Use the in-game Encyclopedia (`N` key) to locate:
    • Lords
    • Wanderers
    • Companions
    • Traders
  • You can search by name, role, or faction.

Companions

  • Here you can find some wanderers and their stats.
  • Best companion depends on your needs — check stats in the Encyclopedia.
  • Companions can serve as:
    • Surgeons
    • Quartermasters
    • Party Leaders
    • Governors

Special NPCs (As of RoT 5.5)

  • Special Traders and NPCs have been relocated in recent patches.
  • Use `Alt` in towns to highlight their location (if they’re present).

Best Unit / Gear?

  • There is no universally best troop, companion, weapon, or armor.
  • Each is balanced to suit different playstyles — explore and find what fits you!
